Chicago's 48-Hour Film Project is back, and we're here to help their filmmakers connect with actors. As big fans of independent film, and strong encouragers of actors making their own movies, the 48 hour film project is a great way to jump in quickly. Whether you're an actor who wants to form a team and make a whole movie, or you're an actor who wants people to call them when they need an actor for their 48 hour film, we hope you get involved!

The 48 Hour Film Project is just that, making a movie in 48-hours. Teams from all over the midwest will compete in Chicago's 2026 event. From newbie filmmakers to production companies looking to have fun, there are folks from all levels that compete. To learn more about the even, check out their website.

Filming: Friday September 18th - Sunday September 20th, 2026
Screenings: October 5th + 6th, 2026
Best-of Screenings: November 5th, 2026

how our virtual open call works
We're creating a talent pool, but we aren't hand-selecting anyone. This pool will be given to all of the filmmakers by the organizers, and filmmaking teams will be able to reach out to you if you submit.

Fill out the requested information
Upload a 1-2 minute demo or self-tape of your choosing. This could be your demo reel, a monologue you love, a scene from a genre you'd like to be cast for this project, etc.
Make sure to include all the info requested in your slate!
Your submission will be automatically added to the talent pool we're creating. The organizers will have access to the pool, and filmmakers will reach out to you
faq
if i submit, will i automatically be cast?
Submitting doesn't guarantee someone will pick you. Submitting sooner than later increases the likelihood that a team will scoop you up early if they like your work, though!
is this a paid gig?
No, we're helping cast a fun project find actors, but we doubt anyone will have the budget to pay people. If it helps, we're here for the love of the game, too!
When will I hear back?
We won't be hands on with this project, as we're only creating the pool, and handing it off. If you don't hear by the 19th, I'd assume they didn't have a role for you this time. We're hoping the filmmakers get to see a lot of new faces with our pool, so head to the screenings and network to get your face out there again!
