from the start

The Hustle started when Compass Casting did - in 2013. When I moved here and saw so many actors without representation, I knew I had to give folks an easy way to submit to projects, even if they didn't have agents. To give actors more control over their careers, but also to give the whole community more transparency on what's going on in our office, we started The Hustle.

who's this for?

Anyone who wants to be considered for professional castings for film, television, commercials, and whatever else comes across the Compass Casting + Bokeh Background desk. From feature films that need us to find "human forms of the Seven Deadly Sins" to commercials that want "Sexy Versions of Historical Figures", we never know what we're going to be casting. Read each breakdown carefully before submitting.

how do i join?

You can click the link below to enter your email address into our system. Once you've signed up, you're good to go! You don't need to do anything else. Questions? Keep reading!

now what?

Once you've signed up, you'll start receiving any of the castings we can release to our email list. Even if you're not right for the roles, it's great to know what's happening in the area (and how much projects are paying đź‘€), and stay up to date.

If you are right for a role, follow each project's instructions very carefully. Instructions change each time, so follow the instructions and cross your fingers. Know that the Compass Casting and Bokeh Background team is cheering for you, and is here to help if you have any questions.

are you my agent now?

Nope! Casting offices find talent, we don't represent them. Talent agencies represent actors. We recommend searching for "film and television talent agents" in your area, and finding one to work with you trust!

do i automatically get an audition?

No, signing up for our email lists is two steps away from auditioning. Now that you've signed up, you'll get emails, but you'll still need to submit to the projects you want to when you're available for the rates and dates, then we'll review your submission. If you're selected by the casting team to audition, we'll send you instructions that change from project to project!

I hope we see your submissions - we never know what we need, but it's always wonderful to see familiar faces and watch your careers grow each time I call you in. If you have any questions, you're alway welcome to reach out.

Good luck out there!

- Sarah
