The Compass Casting team sees a lot of resumés throughout the year, most of them done correctly! The ones that aren't formatted correctly tend to stand out like sore thumbs, so our friends at our sister company, The Film Acting Forge, are here to help.
Casting Director Sarah Cayce put together a free Google Doc template with notes in the column to help you along the way.
Actor Resumé Dos
Make your name the biggest, boldest thing on the page - make it easy for casting to find your name!
Add your agent contact information, or your email address and cell phone number.
Use legible fonts - stick to no more than two fonts that are easy to read, no smaller than 10pt font.
Actor Resumé Don'ts
Lie. Never lie on a resumé - you will get caught, and you will be remembered.
Never add your home address - if a casting office or production doesn't shred your resumé, that information will end up left behind, and in the hands you may not want knowing where you sleep.
Go over one page - more than one page means it's time to start trimming which credits you're listing, not expanding your page count.
The Forge offers on-camera specific classes and services, and is the only place to chat with the Compass Casting team in a consultation. If you have questions about your resumé, chat with Lauren or Sarah, and remember to keep your resumé up to date.
